Injured Riders Funds Update
The MARRC Injured Members Fund is being relaunched this year with updated guidelines in order to better serve members and identify where the funds are sent. In short, the MARRC injury fund is designed to help the financial burden of any MARRC member injured during a roadracing event, either as a racer or as a cornerworker. Any MARRC member can be nominated for assistance by writing to the MARRC Board of Directors by e-mail. We will be announcing beneficiaries on the website and newsletter during the season. For a full list of the guidelines and recipeints, go to the MARRC Injured Members Fund page. All proceeds from the MARRC raffles at Summit Point Raceway will go into this injury fund.
The Wegman Fund has relaunched its website, with some new projects in the making after a lull in action. They hope to have a bike up for raffle soon as well as a gear page selling shirts, hats, stickers, and so forth. Their mission is to assist any seriously injured rider hurt in roadracing competition. Check out their website at www.wegmanfund.org.
Another active fund is run by local rider and MARRC member Steve Clark. The Tight Squeeze Racing (TSR) Injury Fund was designed to help alleviate the financial burden that a racer may endure after having a serious injury during racing activities. TSR is selling $25 raffle tickets to raise funds, and last year's raffle assisted several Mid-Atlantic racers. For more information on the TSR Fund go to www.tightsqueezeracing.org or contact Steve Clark at steve@tightsqueezeracing.org.
