WERA at Summit Point
April 25-26, 1998
WERA's Weekend Race Results
WERA and WERA Vintage made its first visit to Summit Point for the 1998 season. Their first visit also brought the initial shock of moving registration into the Timing and Scoring Building rather than in the Main Building. Several riders arrived and stood by the old location expecting a great grid position until another competitor pointed them up the hill to the long line. A strong showing of riders arrived for the event, filling the Solo20 grids, even causing the LW Solo20 to be split into Expert and Novice riders, and the Novice race still had 3 waves!
As for the racing, Bryan Bemisderfer's new Yamaha YZF-R1s again took the spotlight. Bemisderfer's red-and-white machine took him to victory in every event he entered on Sunday by wide margins.

Bryan Bemisderfer (198) wheelies his R1 off the line to get the holeshot, and eventually, the win in the Formula 1 Expert event. |

MARRC cornerworker Randy Dalmas (112), on his RZ350, leads a pack through Turn 6 in the Carousel during the Lightweight Clubman event. Dalmas would later watch all his hard work stream by when he pulled off with a mechanical problem two laps later. |

The MARRC Safety Crew gets some familiar, yet unexpected, help in cleaning up a crash in Turn 3. Cornerworker and racer Dawn Cook (in the leathers), after running wide in a pass attempt, helps sweep up the aftermath. |

Everyone's favorite starter, Al Wilcox, shows the winner of the Novice Formula 1 race the checkered flag. |
